in Inuvik in many years and the excitement about it hasn’t

About Inuvik
Inuvik, located just over 90 km from the
Arctic coast and on the banks of the Mackenzie River, is the
heart of the burgeoning oil and gas industry. Before that though,
this once-quiet town at the end of the Dempster Highway was
known more for its traditional landmarks like the Our Lady of
Victoria Church in the shape of an igloo or as the access point
to the smaller communities of the Beaufort Delta. It sits on
the boundary of the Gwich'in and Inuvialuit land claims and
is representative of the Aboriginal cultures of the region. |
